Claus Dalby - English
Denmark
Приєднався 18 тра 2021
Hello! My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured in many TV programs. In March 2022 my first book in English was published.
I consider my home (built in 1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel.
Decor and creating moods have always interested me and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

My visit at Sissinghurst Castle Garden
About 10 years ago, i planted that type of allium, it cost about $12/ bulb😂, i was trying to compute how much your garden would cost😲
Fabulous garden, I don't get tired watching more than once! Thanks!
Thank you very much and thank you for being here.
Lovely Claus is best watched at x2 speed
So beautiful❤
Thank you very much.
what is the lovely music this session?
The celetron(?) is stunning ❤
Thanks for sharing your woodland paradise!
The pleasure is all mine - thank you for being here.
What a great video! It felt like going a tour in your garden in real life, when you showed us the video with music. Absolutely stunning garden, and to think not far from where I live. Lars, and Allen from the Perennial Garden/Staudehaven, from Fredericia mentioned you in their June garden tour, and I thought, I know you, I've seen many of your videos, also the recent English ones, and absolutely love your garden, and really appreciate you teaching us how to do gardening, and especially the names of the plants. I would love to visit your garden, but I see there's no chance, I'm too late, but Lars and Allen said they were going, so how nice for them. Bye
Thank you very much for your kind words about my garden and what I do here - it is much appreciated.
Your garden is always such a joy to see.
You are very kind - thank you so much and thank you for being here.
More than 1,000 peonies?
❤
Hello Claus, Question for you : What is the best time of year to sow Verbena Bonariensis seeds ? Am I too late this year? Thanking you in advance. It's so good to see your lovely garden again ❤
3:19 Hi Claus, on your fence wall, how many Constance Spry do you have there? I have a 1.2m tall fence, about 6m long. I am thinking to get a Constance Spry or Kathleen Harrop. But not sure if Constance S is too big for my 1.2m tall fence. Thank U!
Todas las plantas están hermosas.
I am pleased you like it - thank you very much.
Hej Claus! Dejlig video! Har du nogen ide til hvordan jeg får mine frø såede stokroser til at “sætte stilk” og blomstre? De har stået kun med løv i 3-4 år nu 🤥🤥 Venligste hilsner fra Line
Breathtakingly beautiful!! Thank you for sharing the info on The Chelsea Chop!
The pleasure is all mine - thank you for being here.
Does this pertain to daisies and cornflowers ?
I was just about to give my phlox a Chelsea chop!!! Thanks for showing us your marvelous garden!
Just lovely! 🥰When he pulls up plants, I wish I could be there before he tosses them away. I would gather them all up! ☺️
Love your garden! So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to us! I found your videos are so helpful and so enjoyable to watch.
The pleasure is all mine - thank you for being here.
your garden is looking beautiful, right now. So full of colour. May I ask how far apart do you plant your perennials please? Thank you. Happy gardening 🙂
What a lovely comment - thank you. I plant my perennials quite closely together.
My cat mint looks sad this time of year yet there still some flowers and full of bees. So far I’ve not had the heart to it back. Maybe a 1/3 at a time?
Wonderful video, so tranquil. Love it.
You are very kind - thank you.
Qué jardín tan bello, muchas horas de trabajo.
You have so many beautiful plants! I love the fullness of your garden! I live in Northeast Ohio, USA and just had to buy 15 bags of mulch. I'd much rather have the plants fill in the space so that the weeds don't have a chance to grow.
Thank you very much.
I absolutely love this type of videos. Always informative, interesting and of course beautiful 😊🌸🌺🌹🌻🌷
I am pleased you like my video - thank you very much.
Thanks for the Chelsea Chop reminder. I was glad to see you mentioned Veronicastrum. I did the chop earlier and wasn't sure it was ok for that plant. I love that thistle, but sure is hard to find at my nurseries in the states. Beautiful combinations and music!
Always a pleasure! I’m glad I discovered your channel last year.
Thank you very much and thank you for being here.
Prea frumos, deosebit de interesant, încântător!👍❤
What a lovely comment - thank you.
It is so hard to prune when there are buds on the plant.
But really worth doing.
Thank you for sharing, is beautiful.
The pleasure is all mine - thank you for being here.
Love your garden. Love your“Hello hello” and “goodbye goodbye” ❤ Can’t wait to see your next video.
What a lovely comment - thank you.
I could watch your videos all day long! 💚
I am pleased to hear it - thank you very much.
Absolutely gorgeous! Always look forward seeing your videos. 😍
Thank you very much and thank you for being here.
Superbe jardin.
What a lovely comment - thank you. And yes, I have rich soil in my garden, which is fertilized once every spring.
New gardener here. Yikes! Cutting off the buds and blooms now and they re-bloom later?!? Well. You learn something new every day. Your gardens are so beautiful and I’m trying so hard to emulate them. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Thank you so much for your kind words about my garden - they are much appreciated.
you are just so fantastic
You are very kind - thank you.
Your garden is so stunning! This chopping is difficult to do, but I know I at least need to do the asters, as they have already flopped over. Thank you for leading us through the lesson. The roses and Peonies are so gorgeous.
What a lovely comment - thank you.
Beautiful. I am wondering if you find you need to feed your roses more often as they are in competition with the perennials.
Yes, the roses are fed monthly until August.
I think the Peony is actually "Do Tell"
@ timestamp 4:46: Aegopodium Podagraria, (AKA: Bishop's weed, Goutweed, ground elder.) OMG! My nemesis! The only garden weed that's ever made me cry! Vile, vile stuff! Extremely invasive where I am & terribly hard to eradicate. Spreads both by seed & underground rhizomes, that go nearly 18inches/45.72cm deep! Any piece left underground will spread & choke out most other plants. I've been battling it for over 30 years, with no respite. YIKES! Just a warning to your viewers, the variegated version can revert & is sometimes sold at garden centers. DO NOT PLANT! Ground Elder is a horrid invasive once established.
Ohh Claus, never seen that, pruning Hollihocks 😮 all these buds you cut them 😮 please show in august how they flower... Your garden is like heaven inmaculate beautiful 💗💓💗🩷
I love visiting your beautiful garden. There is so much harmony among your plants.
You are very kind - thank you.
Thank you for the advice and the tour of your garden. It’s lovely and so peaceful.
The pleasure is all mine - thank you for being here.
I bought over 12 and planted them upside down only 2 survived. 😂 Clare Austin , Davids daughter sells specialty Peonies. They cost a lot some , but live for up to 100 years old .
I JUST LOVE ALL THE COLORS. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching.
Thank you, Claus, for sharing your lovely garden with us. At 11:17, there is a beautiful spray of pink flowers; is that a deutzia!?
The pleasure is all mine - thank you for being here.
Thank you for the lovely garden tour.
Thank you very much for watching.
Can you do the Chelsea chop on sea holly (Eryngium)?
I must get my garden cut back too. It was so nice to see your gardens. That purple rose is beautiful.
